The panel gaps are there probably because this looks like the same chassis as my 2006 R Class which shared the chassis with the GL of the time. I suspect they've just been updating the same underpinnings for 20 years. 20 Years ago Merc quality wasn't very good. I love our R Class but it's a bit shit.
