People want a cheap economical car and "scratchy plastics" mean absolutely nothing - function over form. I'm still running my Suzuki Celerio after 7 years and all it's cost me is two front tyres, it's by far the best most reliable car I've ever owned. All Suzuki's are bulletproof reliable.
